- Is Konzul affiliated with Hungary, an embassy or a consulate?
- No. Konzul is an independent educational software platform operated by a private company. It has no affiliation with, endorsement from, or connection to the Government of Hungary, any Hungarian embassy or consulate, or any immigration authority. Nothing produced inside Konzul is an official document, an official assessment, or an official communication.
- Does Konzul guarantee citizenship or a successful application?
- No, and we will never claim otherwise. Konzul is language and communication practice software. It cannot influence, predict or guarantee citizenship, application approval, or the outcome of any interview or official procedure. Your progress scores inside Konzul describe your practice performance only.
- Does Konzul provide legal or immigration advice?
- No. Konzul does not provide legal, immigration or professional advice, and nothing on the platform should be treated as such. For requirements, eligibility, forms, deadlines and document rules, always consult the official Hungarian authorities or a qualified professional. If you need advice, speak to a lawyer.
- Who creates the learning material?
- The learning design is authored by the Konzul team: the topic structure, the practice levels, the conversation stages, the feedback criteria and the vocabulary focus. AI is used to phrase questions naturally, generate speech, transcribe your answers and write feedback within those authored constraints. Material is reviewed and updated by us, not generated unsupervised.
- How does the AI work?
- When you speak, your audio is streamed to a speech-to-text model and converted to text. The text is sent, with identifying details removed, to a large language model that plays your conversation partner and produces the next question and, at the end, your written feedback. A text-to-speech model turns the reply into spoken Hungarian. Requests are stateless and your content is not used to train models. Details are on our AI transparency page.
- Can the AI be wrong?
- Yes. AI-generated language, corrections and feedback can be incomplete, inaccurate or out of date. Use Konzul as practice, and verify any factual or procedural claim against official sources. Our AI transparency page explains the known limitations.
- How is my data used?
- We collect the minimum needed to run the service: your email address for authentication, your practice text and your progress scores. Audio recordings are never stored — they are transcribed and discarded. Conversation text is deleted automatically 30 days after a session. Identifiers such as document or card numbers are stripped out before any text reaches an AI provider. You can export or erase your data at any time from your account.
- Do you sell my data or use it to train AI models?
- No. We do not sell personal data and we do not permit our AI providers to use your content for model training. Provider-side retention and history are switched off for our requests.
- Can I cancel anytime?
- Yes. You can cancel from your account or from the link in your receipt email, with no phone call and no retention flow. Cancelling stops future renewals; your subscription stays active until the end of the period you already paid for.
- How are subscriptions billed?
- Konzul Premium is a recurring subscription, billed monthly at €9.99. Billing is handled by Creem, who acts as Merchant of Record and issues your receipt and invoice. Renewal happens automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.
- What is your refund policy?
- We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on a first subscription payment. Renewal payments are considered case by case, and statutory consumer rights always apply on top of our policy. The Refund Policy page explains the process step by step.
- What do I get on the free plan?
- One full practice session per month, at any of the three support levels, including spoken interaction and your session report. The Premium plan removes the monthly limit and unlocks the full progress dashboard and detailed reports.
- Do I need to speak Hungarian already?
- No. Guided mode is designed for beginners: every question is translated and explained, and you can hear a model answer spoken before you attempt it yourself. You move to unaided practice when you feel ready.
- What equipment do I need?
- A modern browser, a microphone and a stable connection. Konzul runs in the browser on desktop and mobile; headphones make the spoken practice clearer.
